Toronto, Canada, September 10, 2004 – Breakwater Resources Ltd.(“Breakwater”) (TSX: BWR)

announced today that Mr. Richard R. Godfrey has been appointed Vice President, Finance and

Chief Financial Officer. Mr. Godfrey was appointed Chief Financial Officer (Acting) in March,

2004. Mr. Godfrey joined the Company in June 2003 as Vice President, Finance following 16

years in the mining industry in progressively more senior capacities in the finance and accounting

areas. Immediately prior to joining Breakwater, Mr. Godfrey was the Finance Advisor to the

President and CEO of The Saudi Arabian Mining Co. (MA’ADEN).
